Born and raised in Srinagar, Jammu & Kashmir, Saba Feroz earned her B.Sc. from Islamia College of Science & Commerce and, in 2022, began her Master’s in Clinical Biochemistry at the University of Kashmir. For her dissertation, she worked at Jamia Millia Islamia under the mentorship of Dr. Tanveer Ahmad, developing tandem CAR T cells targeting EGFRvIII and GD2 antigens in glioblastoma. She completed her MSc in 2024.In the same year, she was selected for the JK Scientists–NCBS Winter Program, where she spent two months in a neuroscience laboratory at the National Centre for Biological Sciences (NCBS-TIFR) under the mentorship of Dr. Hiyaa Ghosh, studying Purkinje neuron heterogeneity. In May 2025, she joined the Organ Mechanobiology Laboratory at NCBS as a Graduate Trainee under Dr. Priti Agarwal, where she is investigating the role of the actin cytoskeleton in reproductive processes and somatic gonad function in C. elegans.
Saba is proficient in molecular cloning, viral vector design and generation, T cell engineering, mammalian cell culture, flow cytometry, RNA interference (RNAi) in C. elegans, genetic crosses, and microscopy-based phenotypic screening.Â
During the JKS-NCBS winter program, she volunteered for the Parikrma Science Festival, which sparked her interest in science communication. She is now an Editorial Board Member of JKS Digest. In her free time, she enjoys culinary arts, origami, and doodling.
